BENNY

I am so happy to report that dear Benny is doing wonderfully with his feedings and his new Mouth Guard.  We do a lot of dogs with broken jaws, and this is a totally different and new procedure for repairing a jaw that does not have enough bone left to put a plate on.  Benny's feeding tube has been pulled, and he can eat a special blend of soft food.  The biggest problem which isn't a problem but a time-consuming process is brushing the teeth and making sure his mouth does not have any food remaining once he eats.  It requires lots and lots of rinsing with a syringe and then lots of brushing.  Each process is done with special medicated solutions to get rid of as much bacteria as possible.

Benny's surgery to repair his leg has not given him any issues.  He can be leash walked and allowed to walk freely in a small confined area.   He will be on restricted exercise for another month if all goes well and then he is free to run around.

Most dogs would not tolerate all the procedures that Benny has to have every time he eats.  This sweet boy is loving and patient during the entire process.   I know a lot of animals that would be Holy Hell to deal with the minute you got out the toothbrush.  Benny loves being loved on and spoiled rotten which is exactly what his Foster Mom is doing during the process.   He has a follow-up appointment for his mouth in another week, and the Surgeon will be able to tell us how the jaw is healing and if the mouth is being kept clean enough not to have any further issues.

We have received very little in donations for this amazing little dog compared to the bills we have for him.   Please, Donate whatever you can so we do not end up with unpaid bills once his treatment is complete.   Those bills add up when you consider all the dogs we have in hospitals being treated.  Benny is going to make someone the very best companion.   He is a delight in every way and has been since the day he arrived.  Thanks for making his Journey to Heal and find Love possible.    We greatly appreciate your Support.
