BRODIE

CHARLESTON, SC......Brodie is the most amazing English Mastiff puppy that is eight months old.   He was originally adopted from a backyard breeder in Maine.   Once it was discovered that Brodie was having issues walking  the Adopter wanted to return him to the breeder.   The breeder would put Brodie down so instead a rescue stepped up to save him.   Unfortunately, after seeing a Neurosurgeon in Maine, they soon realized his condition was way beyond their means.   We were asked to help and immediately had Brodie brought to us to save him.

Our sweet boy is eight months old and already weighs 110 lbs.   He will be way over 200 lbs when he reaches maturity and the problems he has with his spine now will have to be fixed, or he will not be able to walk at all.   Brodie has a compressed vertebra that is putting pressure on his spinal cord.   We have had him at a Speciality Clinic in Savannah, GA where he is getting Physical Therapy and Acupuncture while we are treating him to get rid of as much inflammation as possible before surgery.   A month has passed, and sweet Brodie is now ready for his spinal surgery.  He has been transferred back to Charleston, SC where his Neurosurgeon, Dr. Jason King will be performing his procedure.    The surgery has lots of risks but none greater than doing nothing for a big dog like Brodie.   He has to have surgery, or his quality of Life will be very low.   Once he has recovered from the procedure, he will begin Physical Therapy to regain the muscle that was lost prior to the procedure.

Brodie is a pure breed English Mastiff that has the most beautiful coat you have ever seen.    He is gentle and loving to everyone.   He loves  big dogs, little dogs, puppies, kittens; they are all safe around him.   We have all fallen in love with this very majestic boy that acts like a great big puppy.   Brodie is going to require rehab until he has regained all his strength.   Once he has recovered, he can then be placed in a wonderful loving home.    If you think this incredible boy is right for your Family, please, fill out our Adoption Application online.

Spinal Surgery is very expensive.   The tests alone can wipe out most rescues, but you have to have the tests to determine what the issues are.    Only then, can you determine if the animal is a candidate for surgery.   I am very thankful that Brodie is a candidate for surgery.   Please, donate any amount or share with your friends so we can get this sweet boy healthy.  Thanks for caring and being part of his Journey to Walk.
