BUTTERSCOTCH

Our dear Butterscotch is doing wonderfully.  She has come out of her shell a lot since we first rescued her.  She is still cautious but is willing to give everyone a chance.   We are getting a lot of tail wags now which tells us she is loving having everyone around.   Her skin issues are slowly beginning to show progress.   Most of the dead think layers have begun to slough off with lots of baths daily.  We can at least see some smooth areas that are not crusted over.   It takes a long time for an animal to get in the condition Butterscotch was in when she was found.  The fact we have her itching under control seems to be giving her the most relief right now.

Butterscotch has made so much progress in the last two weeks that we sometimes forget how far she still has to go.   It will be months before her Sarcoptic Mange, and Demodex will be gone.   Because she was in such horrible condition when she arrived, she will be prone to more bouts of Demodex when she gets stressed out until she fully builds up her immune system.  Her bloodwork is coming into the normal range, and she is slowing gaining back her weight.

The Vet Techs went out and bought Butterscotch little girl t-shirts to cover her bare skin, so she doesn't feel so vulnerable all the time.  She wasn't happy at first, but now she seems to be enjoying them.   At some point and time, this wonderful dog had to have belonged to someone that loved her.  How she was ever allowed to get this bad and left abandoned in a building is something we will never understand.   Life has been hard for this wonderful girl.  The fact she is still alive is a Miracle.  Please, Help our little girl get all the medical care she needs to be a healthy happy, fun-loving pup surrounded by people that love and adore her.  Thanks for being part of her Journey to Survive and Thrive.
