GIDGET

Adorable Gidget is doing well since her surgical repair.    It was very complicated surgery based on how severe the break was but our wonderful Dr. Nanfelt was able to put the leg back together with a long plate.    Gidget will have six weeks of restricted exercise to make sure she does not break the plate.   After the six weeks, she will have Physical Therapy to develop further the muscles in the leg.   She is getting lots of Passive Motion Therapy now to keep the leg active.

Gidget is a sweet, sweet girl.   She gets so excited when she sees you that it is almost impossible to get a picture of her because she is constantly in motion wagging her whole body.   Everyone loves adorable Gidget.   She is very cautious of other dogs right now because of her leg injury.  She appears to be afraid another dog will bump into it.  That is not going to happen with us around, but she is not convinced of that yet.  She isn't aggressive toward other dogs, just protective.   Our Trainer will start working with her in another week to make sure that is all that is going on.

Every animal we take in has some quirky, adorable personality traits.  That is why they are thoroughly evaluated with Trainers to over-come any issues we see that could be a problem.    We don't believe Gidget has anything other than she is protective of her leg since she had an injured leg that was very painful for quite a while before she received medical care.   She is a young pup that got hit by a car and is a little scared but still loves Life.   It seems like the dogs we see that have been hit by an automobile or truck are fearful of being hit again from out of the blue.   They usually never see it coming and are shocked when it happens.   Most of the time they don't have a clue what hit them and that is what makes some of them scared to go even outside.   The good news is that is not Gidget.  She loves being outside and going for walks.

We have received very little in donations for this sweet pup.  Please, Donate whatever you can so we can pay off her surgical bill.  Gidget is still in the hospital and will be there for quite a while until her leg has stabilized.   We know we ask a lot of you and greatly appreciate everything you do for our pups.  Thanks for caring and making her Journey to Heal, possible.
