GYPSY (Beagle)

Latest Updates

Adorable Gypsy is recovering from her surgery and is showing great progress.  The problem we are having is not Gypsy but the fact we are getting very little in Donations for this wonderful Beagle.  Gypsy would not be alive today if we did not step up for her.  Her prognosis was terrible, and no one wanted to take the chance of doing surgery and not having her get better.  We wanted to save her and take our chances that if the surgery was not successful, she would still be alive and able to enjoy the rest of her Life in a cart.  Being in a cart is not the end of the World nor is being incontinent.    It is just part of Life and is an issue that can be addressed and dealt with.    Too many people give up on animals like Gypsy, and they are put to sleep.   We wanted to give her the best chance possible and surgery gave her that chance.

We will not know for several months if the procedure worked 100% but we are seeing great progress with her ability to go to the bathroom on her own.  It takes time to get back the use of legs that have atrophied.   Nerve and muscle function do not happen overnight.  The body has to retrain itself, and the brain has to remember what to do.  If it was up to Gypsy, she would already be walking.  She is one determined little beagle.  Her Surgeons and the Vet Techs feel her chances are great for walking again.

We have crossed over the biggest hurdle which is repairing the herniated disk and not doing more damage in the process.  Even the best Surgeons have complications that come up during the procedures.   Gypsy's repair was pretty straight forward without any complications.    Now, we just need to raise funds to cover her expenses which are extensive because of all the scans she had to have.  Spinal Surgery is expensive enough, but you have to have the MRI and Cats Scans before you can do surgery.  Surgery is never done until a diagnosis is reached.   We Do Not open an animal up without having the proper pictures to see what we are dealing with and no reputable Surgeon would either.

Instead of giving Things for the Holidays, give the Gift of Life to an animal in need.  We have e-cards that can be sent to Friends and Family once the donation is made.  Thanks for caring.  Have a very blessed Holiday Season.
