HUDSON

We wanted to let everyone know that sweet Hudson has done well since his heartworm removal.   NC State has him on a strict protocol from the Heart Association to rid his body of the balance of the heartworms.   So far, he has responded well to all of the treatments. Unfortunately, he had to be on steroids, and it has caused him to have a flare-up of Ringworm.  The bald areas on his face and red areas on his feet are from the Ringworm.   When we first got Hudson, he had a crusty area on his face that was cultured and came back negative.   The steroids caused the dormant Ringworm to show it's ugly head in a very big way.  We now have a positive culture that we are addressing and treating.   Hudson feels fine and is loving all the extra attention he is receiving because of it.  He will have to remain in the hospital until he is no longer contagious with the Ringworm, and we are confident it is not going to flare-up again.

Our sweet boy has been through so much and has come out the other side.  The fact he is alive and doing well is a Miracle.   Removing heartworms from the heart is a fairly new procedure.   It is a very costly procedure that has to be done with cases like Hudson.   It is very specialized, and only a handful of places do it.   Our sweet boy is alive today because of this Life-Altering procedure.   Without the procedure, we would have had no choice but to put him to sleep.

Thanks for caring about our dear boy and giving him a second chance at living a long and healthy Life.   He certainly has earned it.
