Latest Updates

FLORENCE, SC......We were contacted by another Rescue that wanted to help this sweet one-year-old Walker Hound that was picked up as a Stray.     It appeared Jake had been hit by a car.  He was taken to the Vet where x-rays were taken.  The x-rays showed he had a leg that was broken in three places and had a torn cruciate ligament.    They tried to raise funds but were not able to even come close to what they needed.     I hear this all day long, and the result is that every Rescue is so strapped they have to give up on the animals, and they are put to sleep.

We are no different than anyone else; We are each having a hard time making ends meet, but we never give up or give in because of money.   I decided if they could find a foster for this sweet pup, we would take on his Medical and make sure he got the surgery and care he needed.  Jake was picked up and brought to our Surgical Team at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews, NC.   He was stabilized and then completely evaluated to make sure there was nothing else going on.

Our wonderful Neurologist, Dr. Bob Bergman got involved in the case because his walk and sensitivity showed he had more going on than a broken leg.   An MRI was done, and it was determined our sweet boy has a back fracture.    The best news of all is that he is in our hands and the fracture will be taken care of.  Dr. Bergman is surgically repairing the fracture now and then he will be transferred to Dr. Michelle Nanfelt to do his leg surgeries.   He has to have a plate put in to stabilize one leg and a torn cruciate ligament repaired.  He is going to be in surgery for most of the afternoon.

Jake is a beautiful sweet young boy that should do fine after his surgeries.  He will be on restricted exercise for about six weeks and then should be as good as new based on the two incredible surgeons I have doing his procedures.

I know ya'll are tired of me saying this, but each animal deserves a chance when disaster strikes.   Bad Owners or Guardians does not make a dog bad.  It means the Owners are irresponsible and we need to do whatever it takes to get them well and find them new, better Guardians.

Please, Donate whatever you can.  Sweet Jake is one of many that will need our help this Holiday Season.   Thanks for caring and being the good in this World that does NOT turn your back on our wonderful 4-legged friends.

Have a very blessed Thanksgiving.   We are thankful for your Love and Support every day at Noah's Arks Rescue.
