SANFORD, NC......We have had some terrible abuse cases, but this last one breaks your heart. Sweet Rumble is a six-month-old Lab Mix that was picked up as a stray by Lee County Animal Control. He was found with something embedded in his neck that was so deep his neck was cut all the way around with a deep one-inch wound. We were contacted when the Animal Control Officer knew we were his only Hope. We picked Rumble up late one evening and immediately took him to the ER in Matthews, NC.
The pictures are heartbreaking of a young puppy that can barely breathe and has lived this way for months as he grew. Someone intentionally tied an elastic waist band around his neck. The elastic was so tight that he could not get his paw under it to remove it. We will never know how long he lived this way. What we do know is that the elastic was on long enough for him to grow and the band to expand as far as it could until it cut into his neck.
Rumble was in the worst situation. This poor pup was young and hungry but eating caused him to grow and the elastic to get tighter. As often as we see embedded collars, I never get past the fact these animals can barely breathe, and my heart breaks for them. This is torture that takes on a whole new meaning. It is a slow death that goes on FOREVER.
Someone intentionally tied a one-inch elastic waist band around Rumble's neck and left him. He wasn't found right after this was put on. He was found after months of being tied up. Someone knew this puppy was suffering and they did NOTHING. I have seen a lot of horrible situations but this one breaks my heart. Rumble is an adorable puppy that wants nothing more than to run and chase a ball and chew on anything he can wrap his mouth around.
Rumble has been at Carolina Vet. Specialist in Matthews, NC where he was pampered and taken care of. Everyone is shocked what someone did to him. How do you wrap a noose basically around a puppy's neck and watch him suffer?
