DECATUR, GA.......SNICKERS is a beautiful 12 week old Lab/Pointer mix puppy that was picked up as a stray in Dekalb County.  She was starved and had a rope/leash tied so tight around her rear leg that it almost severed her leg.  The rope had gone through skin and muscle down to the bone.  A desperate plea went out to save her because her leg was in such bad shape that she could not stay one day at the shelter.  The shelter was not equipped to close up the wound so she was going to be euthanized by the end of the day.  Someone had obviously tied her up and left her somewhere without enough food to survive on for so long that the rope became embedded in her leg.  Look at that beautiful, sweet face.  How could you ever do anything but love on this baby and protect her with those innocent eyes that just want love and affection.  Thank the Lord she got free and was picked up by a shelter that contacted us.  SNICKERS had emergency surgery to save her leg.  Her achilles tendon was still remaining intact and her foot was still warm in areas which meant we could possibly save her leg and not have to remove it.  She is still at the surgical facility in Columbia and will be there for a while recovering.  The problem we are dealing with now is that all of the fluid from her lymphatic system that should have been circulating fluid all through her leg has been pooling at the bottom of her leg.  We have lots of drains in and her bandage is changed several times a day.  We feel good about this precious little baby but are now just waiting for the drainage problem to correct itself.  She is also being treated for every parasite known to man as you can tell from her distended belly.  Snickers loves to curl up under your chin and go sound asleep.  It is like this is the first time she has been fed and taken care of and can now relax in the arms of people that love and adore her.

This wonderful little pup has finally gotten out of the hospital after three weeks because of her MRSA staph infection.  Her leg is doing great and she has a new family that just adores her.  Look how happy she is.
