Latest Updates

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving.  We give thanks every day for your Generosity of Heart and Soul.   I want to remind everyone that we post almost DAILY updates on our Noah's Arks Rescue Facebook Page.   If you haven't checked out the page, then please take the time to do so.  It is sure to put a smile on your face.    We can update Facebook as we are moving from one hospital to another.   The e-mails that we send around have to be done by ME and take much longer to prepare and send around.

During the Holidays, we are getting animals to hospitals and taking in new Abuse Cases.  It doesn't slow down for us during this time of year but gets much busier for me especially.  I will always answer e-mails when someone has a quick question concerning an animal you have not heard about.  Just drop me a note and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Sweet Sophia has made a lot of progress in the last month.   Her mental state was up in the air for the first couple of weeks due to the length of her last big seizure.  I am happy to report that she has overcome a lot of the dullness that she was experiencing before.  She has not a had a seizure in several weeks due to her strict medicine protocol that she must adhere to.  She has been getting daily rehab to help her regain the balance she lost from her seizure activity.  The other issue we have been dealing with is her lack of control when we are giving her a treat.  She is not an aggressive dog but when she is reaching for the treat, she can't quite figure out where it is, so she lunges toward it and almost takes your entire arm.   After several close calls, we have finally figured out why she is doing this.  She has lost a lot of her coordination, and this is part of it.   We have also learned to put her food and treats in a bowl in her kennel and then close the door and let her enjoy them without fear of someone stealing them.   Starved dogs act this way for a very long time until they begin to realize food will always be available to them and they no longer need to protect it.

Sophia is a beautiful girl that is a pleasure to work with.  Her determination to overcome her disability is amazing.  She has made wonderful progress because of all the Physical Therapy she has been getting daily.   She has also gotten more comfortable around people.  I don't think I have seen a dog this unsocialized in a long time.  This poor pup was scared to death of us when we first got her.  I am sure the seizures and the inability to walk added to her stress level.   The good news is that she is glad to see the people that work with her daily and is now able to go on longer walks with a leash.

Sweet Sophia has a lot of bills that need to be paid in addition to all the other pups we have that are still in hospitals being treated.   Please, DONATE toward her medical bills so we can keep helping other dogs like Sophia.
