HENDERSON, NC.....Sweet Thomas is  a three-year-old Pitbull Mix that was either abandoned or wandered into someone's yard.   Animal Control was called because of a terrible wound he had around his neck. What the officers found was an embedded clothesline that was tied around Thomas's neck.  The line had been on him for so long that he had a deep gash all the way around.   

We were contacted by hundreds of people to see if we would, please help this sweet boy.   We see lots of embedded collars and ropes that have been tied around animals necks and then forgotten when the animal is left outside tied up.   It is a horrible life for any animal.   You do not have any freedom, and you are at the mercy of the person that did this.  

When I read about Thomas and then looked at his pictures, I knew something had to be done.  Thomas needed more than surgery on his neck.  He had given up and was defeated.  He did not even want to stand up.   Whatever happened to this sweet dog went way beyond tying a clothesline around his neck.  He was defeated and had no willpower left.

We picked sweet Thomas up and immediately had the surgeons schedule surgery to repair the wound around his neck.  We then had our Trainer start working with him immediately to get him to trust us.  It is hard to describe, but Thomas had shut down all of his emotions.  He wasn't happy, sad or aggressive.  He was detached from everyone as if they weren't there.  We are finally making progress with this sweet dog but still have a long way to go to win his trust.   We are very hopeful that in a couple of weeks, he will begin to come out of his shell.   We are taking it very slow, so he can come around on his terms.  

His neck injuries have already begun to heal but healing a broken Heart, and Soul takes a long time.   We are very committed to this sweet, beautiful boy.  He is a young dog that has a long Life ahead.  We are going to make sure he learns to love and trust again so he can have a special home all his own surrounded by unconditional LOVE.
