MATTHEWS, NC.........Sweet Andy is a one-year-old Beagle that we were contacted about that needed Spinal surgery, or he would end up paralyzed or physically challenged.  He was found on the side of the road by a Rescue Volunteer for a Hound Dog Rescue near Charlotte, North Carolina.   Originally it was thought Andy had a broken leg, and it was going to be a simple fix.  After going to the Vet, the Radiographs of the spine showed a transverse vertebral body fracture at L6.  The caudal segment is displaced ventrally and rostrally.   Andy needed Spinal Surgery, or he could end up paralyzed.  The amazing part is that this sweet pup could use the bathroom and had feeling in his rear legs.

Everyone knows how full we are with major abuse cases.   We think this sweet pup was hit by a car a couple of weeks ago and was left there to die.   He probably would have if he had not been picked up by the young Lady that found him.   We were contacted by the Rescue that found him because they did not have the ability to pay for this type of surgery.  They could pay for a broken leg but not spinal surgery.   We agreed to take Andy into our Medical Program to make sure he got the surgery he needed to get the best possible outcome.   The Rescue raised what money they could, but it was not nearly enough.

Dr. Bob Bergman at Carolina Vet. Specialist did Andy's Spinal Surgery yesterday.   The surgery went well, and Andy is resting comfortably.   Andy will have to remain in the hospital on cage rest until Dr. Bergman feels he can go into a Foster Home.   The Volunteer that found him has offered to Foster while he recovers.    Andy has been nothing but sweet during the entire process.   He will shower you with kisses all day long if you let him.  Right now, he has to remain calm so he will get the best possible outcome from the surgery.   In a couple of months, he should be good as new.

We are taking applications now to adopt Andy when he has recovered from his procedure.  If you love Beagles, then you will think you have died and gone to Heaven with this wonderful little dog.   He loves everyone and is sweet all the time.  He will make a wonderful member of any household.

Please, help us with his Medical Bills so we can keep saving Abused Animals.   Andy is not an abuse case but is a deserving little pup that needed help so he could have his Spinal Surgery.  He is young and has the rest of his Life in front of him.   He now has the best possible chance of living a long life free of pain and suffering.
