🐾 Arlo & Guthrie Update 🐾
Guthrie is doing amazing! The draining tract in his neck and jaw has fully healed, and he’s eating like a prizefighter. Once emaciated, Guthrie is now at a perfect weight and growing like a weed. We expect him to be around 50 lbs full grown—not huge, but a big, handsome boy.
Guthrie can be adopted now. He will be neutered closer to one year of age, and his adoption contract will require neutering between 8–12 months, which we will cover. He’s currently a typical happy puppy—running, playing, and grabbing every toy he can find at our rehab facility.
Sweet Arlo continues to make progress. His most recent culture from CVRC required one more antibiotic change. His specialists are being extremely cautious to avoid anything that could cause long-term side effects or compromise his immune system. While his drainage has slowed significantly, he still has a sinus-compromised drainage tract that is producing. We’re hopeful this new antibiotic combination will eliminate the remaining bacteria.
Arlo’s eyes are now wide open and clear. As his eyes continue to develop, we are waiting for his blinking reflex to fully activate before we can determine the extent of vision in his injured eye.
Due to multiple fractures in Arlo’s head, there are still dips and spaces that will fill in as healing continues. We remain very protective of his head while everything stabilizes. A second CT scan will only be done if an area becomes problematic and will be scheduled just before surgery, as his fractures are still shifting.
At this time, Arlo is the only pup who still requires ongoing weekly medical care, and we are continuing to raise funds for him.
Thank you for giving Arlo and Guthrie the greatest gift of all—medical care and time to heal so they can live long, happy lives.
