CHARLOTTE, NC.......BRUTUS is an incredibly sweet emaciated dog that ended up in a strangers yard looking for food, water and some care.  He was so dehydrated that if you pulled his skin up, it stayed there.  After several days, this wonderful boy was taken to Animal CONTROL in Charlotte, NC.  We worked morning, noon and night with lots of other rescue people to free this wonderful boy before he got any sicker.  He could not be released (no matter what we did) until his stray hold was up.  By the time we did get him out he had a terrible case of kennel cough, along with ever other malady that comes with a starved dog.  He is slowly eating but is not the ravenous eater we were hoping he would be.  He is being treated for lots and lots of parasites and that is taking away from some of his appetite.  He is able to hydrate himself without being put on IV’s but has a ways to go to get his system back to where it will digest and hold the food he is taking in.  All the emaciated dogs we have taken in lately all have required a special diet to get their digestive system back to working normally again.  It takes a while but eventually they can go back on regular good quality dog food  Boxers are incredibly sweet, loving family dogs.  Why someone would allow a beloved animal to get in this kind of shape is beyond me.  Why no one is looking for this gentle soul is also a mystery.  BRUTUS loves everyone and will make some lucky family incredibly happy.  His personality is coming out more and more each day and we are delighted to see the light come back into his beautiful eyes.

BRUTUS is doing great and putting his weight back on.  He is a wonderful boy and will be great with a family with kids.  We found a growth on his foot and will remove and send that off when he is neutered.  He will be ready to go in another week.
