Latest Updates

This sweet sad boy ended up at the backdoor of a stranger Saturday morning in Tucker, GA.  CHAD is a 3 year old boxer mix that has been almost starved to death.  He is beyond emaciated.  He is terribly anemic and will need to be on fluids and have a transfusion.  He will then be tested and treated for any condition he has.  We have no indication where he came from or who did this to this beautiful boy.  Through the kindness of strangers he is being brought to our vets where we will nurse him back so he can regain his health.  He is so weak, he can barely stand or walk.  What he can do is wag his tail.  That alone will bring tears to your eyes.  How anyone could sit back and allow this to happen to someone, I will never understand.  Animals are starved and left to die on a daily basis all over the United States.  Chad is one of the lucky ones because we will do everything we can to give this boy his life back filled with lots of love and care.  We will post more information once he has been evaluated and stabilized.

Chad is at our vet where he will remain until his health is back to normal.  He is being treated for every parasite known to man and then some.  We also discovered that Chad has Paragonimus.  It is a rare parasite that can take over and destroy the lungs.  We have started him on immediate treatment and will be monitoring that closely.  He is still as sweet as can be and will feel rotten for the next week while we are getting rid of the parasites in his system.  He is eating small meals all throughout the day and is drinking fluids.

Update....Chad is doing better today.  He is still weak but holding his own.  His bloodwork is improving and he is eating lots of small meals all throughout the day.  He still feels pretty rough from getting rid of all the parasites but that will improve each day.

Chad is slowly putting some weight on but is still a long way from being where he needs to be.  His gastrointestinal system is finally beginning to settle down after getting rid of a lot of the parasites in his system.  We are hopeful he should start putting weight back on faster now that he has passed the bulk of the parasites.  He is still as sweet as can be and has the most angelic face when he looks at you.

Chad is slowly putting weight back on.  He may not look like it from the pictures but he has gained 7 lbs.  He is starting to eat all the time.  As a matter of fact if he is put outside to run around, he will climb the fence to get inside so he can eat again.  The boy loved to eat.  We should notice more weight gain over the next couple of weeks.  He was so emaciated that it takes a while for the digestive system to get up to speed so he can start to digest and absorb the food.

Look at how much better CHAD is looking.  He is finally beginning to put his weight back on and is beginning to look like a boxer.  He eats all the time now, so we are hoping he will continue to gain weight much faster now.

Look how wonderful Tucker is looking.  We changed his name because it seemed to suit him better than Chad.  HE LOVES THE NEW NAME.

Tucker is back from training and ready for his new home.  He is the sweetest dog.  We love this special boy.  He and Peach Pit love to play.
