Petee

Latest Updates

This sweet 10 week old long-haired chihuahua was brought to Greenville County Animal Control as a stray.  We do not have any idea what has happened to this little fella or what kind of horrible abuse he has endured to be in the shape he is in.  What we do know is that his left and right hip are completely dislocated, has bilateral sacroiliac fracture-luxation which has healed in the wrong position, has a huge laceration over his femur region and his tail has been partially degloved and torn away.  He is just twisted and broken.  The surgeons do not believe this is from a car accident because he does not have internal injuries.  It is as if someone has either intentionally stepped on him or just done something horrible to this sweet little puppy.  He will have to have two to three operations to get him better.  He had his first emergency surgery on Friday.  There was a point when we did not think he was going to make but once we got him into surgery and got him comfortable he seemed to stabilize.  We are hopeful we can put this little one back together.  He is as sweet as can be and we are going to do whatever it takes to fix his injuries.  He will have his second operation on Monday.  He is at South Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Columbia, SC and will be there until he is released.

Petee is doing great.  He had his second surgery on Tuesday and we are hopeful he will not need a third operation.  He has a long road of recovery ahead of him but with lots of love, affection and rehab he should recover nicely.  He has been placed with a wonderful foster family that will be looking after him during his recovery.  We still need lots of donations to pay for the surgeries we have already done so we can help more animals. If you haven’t donated toward this incredible little dog, please do or pass on to your friends.  You can’t imagine how tiny he is.  He only weighs 6 lbs. and is so fragile right now.

Sweet little Petee is beginning to get around like a little puppy.  She was so uncomfortable that she just didn’t want to move around much at first but is now feeling much better.  She is eating great and starting to bark at the other little dogs.  This is the sweetest little dog to have had this happen to him.

Petee is doing great since his surgery.  He is like a completely different dog.  He is running around and playing but not to rough because he is still on restricted exercise.  Petee will be ready to be adopted after his next doctor’s appointment.  He is a wonderful little dog.
