Tango and Cash are finally showing some progress. Tango has always been the worst, but Cash still has a lot of healing to do. Dr. Holcomb and her incredible Staff have nurtured and stood watch over these two special Angels to make sure nothing went unnoticed when it came to their care. The best news of all is they are each improving daily. They are still very sick, but their immune system is beginning to come back to Life. All the medicine and Love in the World will not save an animal that does not have an immune system that is at least doing some of the work to fight off infection. For the first time since we got them they are off all IV fluids. Tango may have to be put back on fluids but for now her system is starting to work, and her blood values are coming up. If their values begin to drop, then we will put them back on fluids. For now, we are very hopeful their little bodies will continue to get stronger. Each pup has continued to eat well without any adverse side-effects. Their weight is a little deceiving in the beginning. Getting rid of the intestinal parasites makes them look like they are losing which is not the case. By next week, the bulk of the parasites should be gone, and the blood that was being lost from the overload should start to come back up.
Each puppy is adorable and cute. We do not have a clue what breed they are but think they are adorable little hound mixes that want nothing more than to play and get belly rubs. Daily baths and treatments are helping then heal from the Demadex. They are not nearly as itchy as they were in the beginning. The skin infection is beginning to dry the skin, so it is not as moist and inflamed as it was in the beginning. It will be months before the skin has healed enough for their fur to begin to grow back. We have to have healthy skin for them to have healthy hair.
Both pups are Miracles. If they had been locked up any longer, I would not be writing this note. They would have passed away without ever coming into our lives. They are here now, and we are so blessed to be able to nurture them back to health. While they are in the hospital, they will be learning manners so when their time comes to be adopted, they will make wonderful Family pets.
