WILSON

MURFREESBORO, TN......Sweet WILSON is an Emaciated 5-year-old Shar-Pei / Pitbull Mix that was picked up as a stray and taken to Rutherford County PAWS.   It appears he has been used as a Bait Dog based on all the old wounds and scars he has on his body.  His poor ears are mangled so badly that at first I thought someone had cropped them that way.  We later realized it was from constant biting and tearing of the earflap.  His ears appear to be shorter shar-pei ears that are now thick and curled inward from all the scar tissue. Wilson's body index is so poorly that you can see almost every bone in his body.  When we first got him, he could barely stand to walk and then only briefly.

Wilson has one of the saddest faces you will ever see.  It will break your heart the depth of his sadness.   His face and body are all sunken in along with his heart.   I do not know how long he has endured such suffering.  I do know it was long enough to break him.   Wilson will allow you to do anything to him.  I think if someone raised a hand to him, he would bow his head and wait for the blow.    We have had Wilson for several weeks, and he is still skinny.  His bloodwork is just beginning to show improvement after weeks of strict medical care to get him through this.

I see so many emaciated dogs that I have to wonder how and why no one is  helping these amazing dogs.  How is it that in our Society, a wonderful dog like Wilson could go unnoticed while he is being tortured and starved daily.  I don't know what is stopping people from helping.   The best news is that he was finally picked up.  No one wanted sweet Wilson, and he was going to be humanely euthanized if we had not stepped up for him.   That fate was still better than the Life he had already endured.   I Do Not have the capacity to turn my back on an abused animal and yet people do it all the time.

Wilson is one of the sweetest dogs.   He has so much love to give and is almost scared to give it.   He is finally beginning to relax and take in all the love we have for him.   We LOVE and care so much for sweet Wilson.  All the Vets, Surgeons and Vet. Techs think he is the most wonderful dog.   He is going to make some Family happy for a very long time.   Handsome, Quiet, Reserve and SWEET are how we describe Wilson.    When Wilson first arrived the shelter was calling him Joe.   I decided he needed a different name, so I started calling him Wilson.  Now, everyone is calling him Joe Wilson, including me.   He is so Special that he needs two names.

We love Wilson and are doing everything in our power to get him well so he can have the Life he so deserves. After what we went through with Hudson's emergency heartworm surgery, we are very happy to say that Wilson is HW-.

Thanks for being Wilson's and all the other's Guardian Angel.  Have a very blessed Holiday Season filled with much Love and Laughter.
