FLINT

YANCEYVILLE, NC....Imagine being all alone in the woods, your cold emaciated body is doing the best it can to find food and a person to help you but you can't because you are BLIND.   That is FLINT.  He is a five-year-old Mastiff that someone neglected and abandoned in the woods in North Carolina.  Animal Control was called, and he was picked up.   From the minute the AC Officer met Flint, she knew he was a very special pup.  All he wanted was love and affection.   I can't even imagine how he must have felt being all alone with no way to fine protection from the elements or food to survive on.   He has old and new sores on his legs and feet.   He is the saddest looking dog you will see for quite a while with his beautiful eyes looking right at you but not seeing anything but a glimmer of a shadow in one eye.

When we were contacted, it was late one evening, and I had already taken in way too many dogs given the lack of funds we had.  I was it for Flint.   Animal Control loved him but knew he needed to be put down based on his body score and his blindness.  No one would want him, and AC could not adopt healthy animals much less a blind one.  His situation was hopeless, to say the least.  I knew the minute I got his picture; I was going to be his Person, and he was going to get out.

Transportation was arranged immediately, and he was taken to the ER in Charlotte, NC.  Flint was anemic, starved, Heartworm Positive  Ehrlichia positive, had cuts on his feel and was overall a mess.  He weighed 80 lbs and should weigh at least 120-130 lbs.   Sweet Flint stayed in ICU to get him better until he was strong enough to be transferred to a hospital closer to us.  This amazing dog wanted nothing but love and affection, and we were going to make sure he got it.

Flint went to see our Eye Specialist, Dr. Anne Cook in Mt. Pleasant.  If anyone could bring back sight in Flint's eyes, I just knew it would be Dr. Cook.   Unfortunately, Flints sight in both eyes is beyond repair.  He is blind in one eye and has a very old cataract in the other that cannot be removed.  In one eye, he sees nothing more than a hint of a shadow.  I LOVE blind dogs and have so much respect for what they can do and accomplish.  Flint is going to be one of those dogs.  Once we get him well, he is going to be the best dog imaginable.  He loves everyone and has the best time with big or little dogs.  He is the PERFECT dog in every way.

We could post a dog a day for the next two weeks that we have taken in and are treating.  Only a few of those dogs will be posted for.  Today we are going to post for our sweet Angel FLINT.   No dog deserves more love and support than one that was abandoned with no way to take care of himself.   Flint has a lot of medical over the next two months with all of his treatments plus what we have already done with him in ICU.  Please, DONATE toward his Medical Bills and if you can't, forward to your animal loving friends, so they have the chance to make a difference in his Life.

Thanks for caring and being part of the Noah's Arks Rescue Family.
