GREENVILLE, SC.....Animal Control was called out to a home where an animal had been severely neglected.  BANJO was chained on a five foot fence, living in feces and starving to death.  He was 40 lbs. underweight, has sarcoptic mange and terrible heartworms along with a long list list of other illnesses.  The one thing that was going to cause his immediate death was the fact the woman said he was a WOLF.  That was enough for everyone involved to be so fearful of this sweet boy.  We couldn’t even get vets to take him.  We called around and without even seeing the animal, we were turned away.  We just knew in our gut that he was a Husky / Shepherd mix.  We were told that if we took him, he would have to be driven out of the state.  He could not go to a rescue in South Carolina.  We just couldn’t believe all the roadblocks we had to go through to save this sweet boy.  It was Friday afternoon several weeks ago and the only reason why I can tell you his story now is because I had DNA testing done to prove he is a dog and that he matters.  If he was a full-blooded Wolf he could have gone to a Sanctuary but since he was a mix he was not worth saving.  The DNA tests are back and our warm, loving, playful, spirited 4 year old boy is a mix of Siberian Husky, Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd.  He is absolutely incredible and definitely not a WOLF or even part of a wolf.  He is tall and will be very majestic once we get him well.  He loves everyone he comes in contact with and gets along with most of the dogs he has been allowed to play with.  I am still amazed what we had to go through to save him.  Here was a terribly abused animal that no one wanted to save.  We are so glad we fought for him because he is a delight to be around.  He will be with us for several more months getting well.  We are in awe of just how beautiful he is going to be.  He was 78 lbs. when we got him and should be around 120 lbs.  He is not even close to that now but based on how much he loves to eat, he should be that in the next couple of months.

I have enclosed a link to the laws governing Wolfs in the USA below.  Please, be mindful of the fact that all animals have rights and they all do matter.  No one has the right to abuse them.

Banjo is doing great.  He spends most of the day outside, running around and comes in at night.  How anyone could allow this to happen to him, is just terrible.  He is beginning to get his fur back and his mange is slowly going away.

Banjo is doing wonderful.  He is growing like a weed and loves to to play with anyone that will p[lay with him.  He gets along with all of the animals that have been neutered or spayed and will play all day if we let him.

Banjo has been adopted into a family that has dogs just like him.

He is a happy, happy boy.
