I am happy to announce that Ringo is finally able to join the other pups and run and play to his heart's content. The injuries that Ringo sustained entirely shifted his pelvis from the massive breaks he sustained. Although we did his surgery, he had to be on strict cage rest for what turned out to be three months. Ringo was allowed to go outside and do his business but had to be immediately put back in his small kennel.
When we first got Ringo back after his surgeries, we put him in a small kennel in a large run. The reasoning was so he could walk out, do his business, and go back into the small kennel without having to go outside. Dr. Sura had given us strict instructions about the dangers of him moving around too much. The surgeries were costly and were his only chance of ever walking normally again. We had to keep his pelvis in the position Dr. Sura put it in during his surgery. Any movement was going to be disastrous for his outcome.
Ringo went to the hospital each week to make sure we did not have any movement. The only issue we had was he developed an infection that caused the incision site to swell and fill with fluid. That was a bump in the road that required cultures, antibiotics, lots of warm compresses, and more vet visits. The good news is that he was able to get through it without needing any more surgery to clean out the infection.
We are now in the final stretch with this amazing pup. We need to raise more funds to cover his final bills and find an excellent home for Ringo. Our sweet pup acts like he was never hit by a car. He runs and plays like a young pup that has never been hurt. Ringo loves everybody and has the best time running with the other pups in our care. He will make the best Family Pet for someone looking for a young, spunky dog that gets along with everyone. Please let us know if he would be right for your Family.
We have had a lot of people inquire about Ringo and when he could be adopted. Don't wait if you think he would be right for your Family.
