CECILY

FLORENCE, ALABAMA........We were contacted by the Florence Shelter asking us to help an adorable 6-month-old Shepherd Mix pup that was picked up as a stray on the side of the road.  She has several breaks in her rear legs, and her pelvis is fractured.   A bone is protruding through her skin on the main compound fracture. Her injuries do not appear to be from a hit and run from a car.   Our best guess is that she was probably thrown from a car at a high speed.   When an animal is hit by a car or truck, there is a lot of bruising and swelling that goes with it.  Sweet Cecily does not have that.   If she wasn't thrown, then someone intentionally did this to her, and she was discarded on the side of the road.

Cecily has a nasty infection where the bone has been exposed.  We have to get the infection under control first before we proceeded with her surgery.  She is also very thin and needs to put some weight on.

Our little girls injuries required us to consult with several Orthopedic Specialists to decide which one would be best suited for doing her surgeries.  Cecily needed a surgeon that could do biplanar or ring fixator external skeletal fixation surgery.   Her best case was with Dr. Jennifer Au, an Orthopedic Surgeon at CVRC in Charleston.    Cecily is going to need several surgeries before we are done.    We have done her first procedure which was quite extensive.  By looking at the pictures, you can only imagine what went into putting this jigsaw puzzle together.  I was quite impressed.  The instruction manual alone would have had me buffaloed.

Cecily has adapted to her fixator and I am happy to report is showing signs of walking around with it.  She still has a very long recovery and more surgery in her future, but the process has begun for her to get her sweet little Life back where she can be loved and pampered. Cecily's surgeries and her Critical Care is quite expensive.  Please, please, please, donate whatever you can for her to get the best possible outcome.   Thanks for caring and being part of her Journey to survive and walk again.
