HERSHEY

Wonderful Hershey has been in foster care doing incredible until yesterday.  He suddenly became very lethargic, didn't want to eat and was very wobbly on his feet.  We had him immediately taken to the Critical Care Hospital in Charleston where bloodwork was done.   Sweet Hershey has a high fever that is still elevated and a very low white cell count.   We are assuming this is a side-effect of the chemo he had.   He has been on fluids to get the fever down.   So far that has not helped enough.   He is on antibiotics to counteract the infection he has developed and also Neupogen which stimulates the blood system (bone marrow) to make white blood cells, helping him fight the infection.    Once his fever is down, he will get a blood transfusion.

Hershey has been loving life since we removed his massive tumor.   He has gained some of his weight back but now that he is not eating we are going to have to address that also.   It seems like it is always a balancing act for most of the abuse cases we take in since they have been neglected for so long without proper medical care.    Please, keep Hershey in your prayers that we can pull him through this.   He has come so far and has been doing so well, I hate to see him set back this way.   Thanks for caring and helping him recover during this difficult time.
