CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC......Sweet ROO-ROO is a one year old Chihuahua that another rescue had contacted us about.  He had multiple pelvic fractures, damage to his legs and ligaments and they could not afford to take him to a specialist for the surgery.  The best they could do would be to amputate one of his legs and hope for the best.  They told us how one of their volunteers found him.  He apparently had been tied up to a tree with a rope and chewed his way through the rope.  After he got loose, they think he was then hit by a car.  We offered to take this little boy in the beginning of December to see what we could do to save his legs and give him the best possible outcome.  Right off the bat, I have visions of adorable Judy and all we had to do to get her walking again.  Judy’s bills were way above $10,000. after all of her rehab.  I decided the best thing to do was to do the surgery and then see what all has to be done before I post for him.  Roo-Roo barely weighs 5 lbs.  He is a tiny little teacup of a Chihuahua.  If this little wonder boy had ben hit by a car, he would not be here today.  We don’t know exactly how he managed to get these horrible breaks but we do not believe it came from a car accident.  If it did, he is one of the luckiest little dogs I have ever met.  Arrangements were made to get him to us and then one of our incredible surgeons that can work with tiny little bones began to put Roo-Roo back together again.  His pelvis was totally smashed and his hip sockets were all messed up.  Even if the other rescue had removed one of his legs, he would still not be able to function normally.  He had to have a specialist work on his pelvis to realign him so he could walk normally again.  After hours of surgery and lots of rehab and TLC from the vet. tech that fostered him, our little boy is finally able to walk again.  He still has to be on restricted exercise for another two weeks but he is doing incredible.  We are now working on his manners and training.  He is so cute that he thinks he can get away with anything.  He is learning how to be the bet companion possible for some lucky Family.  I can’t even understand what someone was doing tying up a little dog that could practically fit in the palm of your hand.  Roo-Roo will be ready for his new home once he has finished his re-hab and his training.

We wanted to end 2011 with a special little dog that was thrown away.  He has endured lots of pain and suffering and still loves people and other animals.  We can all learn lessons from the Abused Animals we have taken in.  No matter how bad their life has been, they start every day as a new day filled with wonder and excitement and lots of LOVE for everyone they meet.  Even our worst abuse cases have come around to trust and love again.  They never give up on us and we should never give up on them.

Our sweet boy has recovered and is now ready for his new home.
