GERTIE & GINGERSNAP

LAFAYETTE, TN....We were contacted about 3 terribly abused pups that were 6 months old.   Because we are so full right now, I offered funds to help the animals in hopes it would inspire another Rescue to step up.   Unfortunately, only one of the pups was rescued and the worst two were left behind and were scheduled to be put to sleep.  I really felt terrible because there was no reason for these little pups to be put down.  Their entire life had been nothing but pain and suffering and now it was going to end without any chance of Love.   Against my better judgment, I let my heart win out and agreed to take the two pups and immediately sent our transporter to pick them up.   Gertie and Gingersnap are 6 month old Redbone Hounds that are emaciated and sick.  They each weigh no more than 19 pounds at six months old.  Not only have they been starved but they have terrible Demodex that has gotten infected.  The malnutrition has also caused them to have Rickets.  To say they are miserable is an understatement.  They are beyond miserable.  Every part of their skin seems to be oozing and hot.  On top of everything else, the moisture has caused them to have terrible fungal infections.  They have been picked up and are in ICU in the hospital where they will remain until they start to feel better.  Right now they are each in critical condition.

The authorities are looking for the person that had the pups to charge her with animal abuse.  No animal deserves to suffer this way.  As miserable as Gertie and Gingersnap are, their personalities are as sweet as can be.  All they want to do is play and give you kisses.  They decided a long time ago to make the best of a bad situation.  As far as they were concerned, this is how Life was supposed to be.  We are going to turn their adorable lives around.  They appear to be pure breed Redbone pups.  They will never be as large as they were intended to be because of the malnutrition.  When we received them they each weighed approx. 19 lbs.  That is about half the size they should have been for six months old.  When they get full grown they will be smaller Redbones than usual which will make them that much cuter.  These adorable little pups will be with us for several months healing.  Please, help us with their long-term medical care so they can get the best possible medical care to live a long happy Life.
