HENNESSY

Latest Updates

ST. HELENA, SC.....Sweet Hennessy is an 18-month-old Pitbull that had ended up like so many other Pitbulls.  She was fought, discarded and now had ended up being chained up.   A Good-Samaritan found her and several other dogs and decided being chained up with food and water was far better than where she had been.   There was no lack of love for his dogs, just lack of money.

The Gentleman that saved Hennessy saw our cars all the time and each time he explained his story and how much he appreciated what we did for the Pitbulls in his area.  This last time, he explained one of his rescues had terrible legs and could only walk a little bit and then had to stop.   He begged me to please look at the dog and to help her.   He wanted something better for these dogs.  He wanted them to have a Life he could not give them.

I agreed to send someone out to see the dogs and to get me pictures and a video I could send to my Surgeons.  I decided to go out myself and see what could be done to help him.  He wanted nothing for himself but help for the dogs he had given shelter and love to.  All of the dogs seemed to have been previously beaten down to where they would not even look at you without crawling on their belly.   It was very clear they loved the Man that had saved them.   I contacted Beaufort County, and they offered to help also.

I had Sweet Hennessy picked up and taken to Dr. Michelle Nanfelt at CVS in Matthews, NC.  This sweet girl had torn cruciate ligaments on each rear leg.   Both of her legs were bowing out and could not hold her weight for any length of time.  The only way to help Hennessy was for her to have TPLO (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy) Surgery on each leg at separate times.  The other issue we had was that she was very anemic, was heartworm positive and loaded with parasites.  For a dog, that was only eighteen months old; she certainly had a lot going on.  We did a full Cardiology work-up and then did the first of two TPLO Surgeries.

Hennessy did great during the first long procedure and now is ready to have her second surgery tomorrow.  The other dogs that were tied up, we arranged for them to be treated for worms, spayed and neutered and to have big kennels delivered so they could get off the chains.   When we went back to deliver the large 10 x 10 metal kennels, there was no sight of any of the other dogs.  Apparently, the Landlord for the Mobile Homes decided she did not want any dogs around and DEMANDED they be removed immediately.   We have yet to find the other dogs we wanted to help.  There is so much dog-fighting in the area that our presence to HELP caused an uproar.   We are still looking for the dogs so we can get them the care they need.

All of the dogs we wanted to help are Special Pitbulls.  They are loving and sweet, and each deserved a home where they were not abused.   The fact that so many of these beautiful dogs are tortured and neglected has nothing to do with the dog itself.  It has to do with Evil People that are determined to do harm.  They do not value an animal, and each animal is fair-game for the abuse they can inflict.    One puppy from the same litter can go to a loving Family, and the other can go to a dog-fighter that uses them to Fight or for Bait to train dogs on.   The latter are the ones we work tirelessly to save.   A dog that goes to a loving Family and one that is used for Bait each deserve to get the best possible Medical Care.  One is not more deserving than another.   When you see an animal that is tied up and needs help, please don't judge before you know the facts.   Each animal deserves unconditional LOVE as do the Good Samaritans that do all they can to help those in need.

In the meantime, we need everyone's help getting Hennessy the surgery she needs so she can walk free of pain.   Her bills are quite extensive since doing TPLO Orthopedic Surgery is very expensive.   Doing both legs is double the expense.   Any Donation is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for being the Good in the World that steps up for animals in need instead of turning your backs.  We greatly appreciate all you do to make the World a better place.
