We know this is terribly disturbing and unsettling. We have thought long and hard about posting this. We have finally decided the best way for this abuse to stop is to make as many people as possible aware of it so the laws will be changed and the animals protected. This form of abuse is not new to us. We hear about it far too often because all we do are Abused Animals. The is the cruelest form of animal abuse. This is beyond an abused animal and points toward the fact the moral compass within each of us has failed the gentle trusting animals of our society. Please, read Janey’s story so you can force the lawmakers in your area to change the laws and make this illegal.
DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL.....Meet sweet JANEY. She is a 3 year old Red-Nosed beautiful Pit Bull. We have changed her name so she can start a new life without any reminder of her horrible past. From here on out she will be called JANEY. On June 18, 2011 police were called to the scene when a report was called in saying a young boy had walked in on his Grandfather having sex with the family dog. I have enclosed the link below to the article. We do not need to repeat everything that is in the article. There is a criminal investigation going on and we want to do everything we can to for this person to be convicted of animal abuse.
This person was put in jail for a day and then released with bond. Janey was immediately removed from the home, along with three other dogs that do not appear to have been abused. The other dogs were placed but Janey was sent to the vet where a thorough evaluation and a Rape Kit was done. We do not know the results of the Rape Kit because it has just recently been sent in. Janey was then taken to the Shelter in the area and we were contacted. We have been trying to get Janey released to us since the day after the abuse. On Wednesday, we were finally able to get her into our care. To see the confusion, loneliness and sorrow in this incredible dogs face makes it hard to even breathe. The injuries she has sustained at the hands of her abuser are beyond description. She is covered with Demodex, is emaciated, has a terrible eye infection and is covered with sores all over her body. Her poor rear end has been rubbed raw from the abuse. We could go on but we aren’t. This person does not have a MORAL bone in his body. This is Child Abuse and Animal Abuse. All Janey wants is love and affection. She wants to run outside and play. She is still a baby and she looks like she is ancient. Based on how she looks, her life has been one of torture, abuse and neglect. This has been going on for a long time and the family should have stood up for her a long time ago. She did not get this way over night.
She has had her first surgery and will have another one in a month. She is out of the hospital and is now in a home based training facility where she can get the constant love and affection that she needs right now. She is still leery of people but is getting better each day. All she wants to do is please and make someone happy. She is such a lovely dog and will give kisses all day long if you let her. She is getting lots of constant reinforcement to let her know that who and how she is, is perfect. We are building up her confidence so she will be able to tell what is normal and what is abnormal behavior from a Guardian. She has never been called by her old name and never will. As far as she is concerned, her life was re-invented when we started calling her Janey. When she hears her name, something good always happens. She is living with a group of well rounded dogs that are also nurturing her through this process. The most important part of her transition has been for her to start feeling like she is part of a family that loves and respects her.
JANEY has had all of her surgeries and has finally healed enough
to be placed in her new wonderful forever home.
