BEAUFORT, SC.....Adorable Mable was picked up as a stray during the holidays and taken to the Shelter in Beaufort County.  During the holidays is the worst time to be found if you are a stray.  Too many animals are PTS during that time.  Sweet Mable did not stand a chance at being rescued.  We gave her that chance and have had her since then treating all of her skin disorders, which are extensive.  Just the look in Mable’s eyes tears your heart out.  I have seen a lot of desperate animals but Mable’s eyes had such desperation and fear that I knew she had to come to us.  Mable has been in the hospital being treated since we got her and is still in the hospital.  She has a case of Demodex that has gone on for so long that she developed terrible infections on top of the demodex.  The infection then got into her ears and have caused her lots of pain and discomfort.  We are assuming our dear girl is around 3 years old because she has a terrible case of heartworms that even had her throw up a heartworm which you rarely hear of.   Mable’s skin is similar to Gypsy and Angels when we first got them.  It is going to take a long time to get her over this and restore her immune system which has been terribly compromised from fighting all of the infection.  Mable is a small little mixture of something we are not quite sure what.  What we are sure of is that she has the biggest heart and will do anything to have a Family all her own for her to CHERISH.  She knows she has been saved and showers everyone with unconditional love.  If eyes are the seat of the Soul, then Mable’s Soul is wide open for everyone to see.  It is terrible than anyone could have allowed such an incredible dog to suffer the way she has.  Her suffering days are over and now we just have to get her well.  If you think you might be the Family of her Dreams, please, fill out our Adoption Application below.

Sweet MABLE is slowly getting some fur back.  It is mostly the long hairs but there are a few places we can see tiny little hairs coming in where she was once bald.  Everyone keeps e-mailing us saying she is a cocker based on her head and her size.  We still do not have a clue but I am glad to know some of you do.  One thing we can guarantee is that she is sweet and loving.  This poor girl is still very shy.  She is slowly coming around and learning to trust us.  Her eyes are just now beginning to  to not look so scared.  Mable has a long road ahead to get her skin condition under control.  She is still in the hospital because of her heartworm status.  The treatment for her Demodex will also start to kill of some of the small heartworms.  We have to make sure she does not have too many die-offs to compromise her health which is why she is being so closely monitored.  As soon as she has completed her Heartworm treatment she will be in a foster home.  She is showered with love and devotion every day.  It is hard not to fall in love with this gentle Angel.  Thanks for caring about her.
