Latest Updates

As you can tell from this video, this is one happy dog that so deserves to be saved. Odie was picked up as a stray in Chattooga County.  We rescued Odie from being euthanized at the Chattooga County Shelter in Summerville, GA.  He had terrible kennel cough, was high heartworm positive and had deformed front legs.  One of the above is enough to get him euthanized, but all of the above was surely not going to end up good for this sweet boy.  We were contacted by the volunteers there because everyone fell madly in love with the incredible spirit of this wonderful dog.  They knew if we didn’t step up for him, he would not get out because he had so many things wrong.  We took him into the program and have treated him for his kennel cough and his heartworms and he is now finally ready to have his surgery.  You will be able to see on our website that we have repaired several dogs like this.  Look at Jeremiah and Frankie.  It is complicated surgery that has a long recovery period because you are having to do two legs at separate times.   We think Odie deserves this surgery and the right to live a long healthy life in the arms of a wonderful family.

Odie’s surgery on one of his legs was a huge success yesterday.  The surgeons took the exact amount of angle that his leg was rotated in the wrong direction and cut a wedge of the exact opposite angle out and rotated his leg back into alignment.  Great surgeons are priceless and we feel very fortunate that we have the best surgeons at South Carolina Veterinary Specialist in Columbia working on all of our animals.  They go above and beyond to make sure all of the animals are treated like a member of the family.    He will be in the hospital for about a week.

Odie has completed his first surgery and is doing great.  This is the happiest dog we have ever been around.  Since he used his hind legs to carry the bulk of his weight, he will stand up on his back legs and give you a great big hug which has been really easy to do with curved legs.  He will have his second operation in about four weeks when the first leg is able to carry a lot of weight.  So far he is doing wonderful. He doesn’t even act like he has had surgery.  Here are some pictures of Odie during surgery to show you the difference in the leg before and after.

Odie is with his foster family and is doing great.  He is a very active boy that does not like to be restricted in his exercise.  We are having to change his bandages a lot because of this.  He is doing great with his legg and is putting weight on it.

Odie is doing great and will be scheduled for his other procedure this coming week.  He is so active because he got used to using his back legs so much.  He is using his surgical leg without any problems.  We still need lots of funds for this great boy.  We haven’t even gotten the funds for his first surgery and now we will be posting for his second.  Please, send to everyone you know so we can get the funds we need.

Odie had his second surgery and is doing great.  He officially has two pretty straight legs to walk on now.  He will be in rehab and will be on restricted exercise for the next 6 weeks.  We desperately need funds for this incredible boy.  Please, Donate toward his medical bills.

If you have forgotten what he looked like before, then go down to the bottom of the page and you can see how he was when we got him.
