CLINTON, SC......This sweet adorable little 5 month old Dachshund was brought into one of the clinics we use screaming in pain.  The owner informed the vet that he had had been attacked by one of her other dogs.  When asked what provoked the attack, she informed her that she had a beautiful sweet pit bull that had a new litter of puppies.  She was feeding the Mom and Oscar in the same room with the puppies, right next to them.  When Oscar went to eat, the Mom grabbed Oscar thinking she was going toward her puppies.  Oscar is lucky to be alive.  His jaw was snapped clean through on both sides.  He wasn’t attacked by the dog but was grabbed by the Mama dog and taken away from the puppies.  The jaws of the other dog were so strong that she snapped Oscar’s jaw in two.  The owner wanted Oscar put down IMMEDIATELY so she did not have to hear him scream anymore.   What kind of IDIOT puts any dog near a Mama dog that has new pups she is nursing and protecting.  We were contacted because the vet did not want to put this wonderful little puppy down.  The puppy did nothing wrong and should have never been put in this horrible situation.  Oscar went through several hours of surgery to repair both sides of the jaw.  His mouth is sewn shut just far enough to keep the jaw from moving and still be able to be fed with a syringe.  Without the surgery, his jaw would hang down and he would not be able to function.  He would have no way to hold food in his mouth.   Oscar should get the full use of his jaw back once it has healed.  He will just have a long recovery time.  This great little puppy will be the best family dog for some lucky family.  if you are interested in adopting Oscar, please fill out our Adoption Application.  He is a great dog that just loves to be held.

Sweet Norman has now moved into a mesh strip to hold his jaw in place while we give him a little mobility.  He is scheduled to have another surgery to remove the stitching that has been holding his jaw into place.  He is doing great and will be a wonderful member of a family once he has healed.

Oscar has been adopted into a wonderful home.
