BENGAL

GIRARD, GA......I finally feel comfortable posting for this sweet pup.   I did not think she was going to make it through the night and didn't want to have to send out more bad news or raise funds for an animal that was going to pass away.

Late yesterday evening, I got a desperate plea to call a Rescue about a dog that was in terrible shape and needed medical care ASAP, or something horrible was going to happen to the dog.   I made the call knowing full well I should have turned my computer off and called it a day.  No such luck.  I was suddenly looking at the saddest Pitbull / Boxer Mix that had gangrene on the lower part of her leg.  It looked like someone intentionally tried to shoot sweet Bengal's leg off but missed and took a large chunk that was now missing.

Bengal is a 2-3-year-old Pitbull / Boxer Mix that is emaciated, has a badly infected leg that the foot is hanging off of, and her teeth have been filed down.  Based on how infected Bengal's leg was, it appeared this sweet pup had been roaming around injured for quite some time.  The Family that saw her near their home was feeding her until the Father came home and had a fit.  It is very obvious this sweet pup needs love, understanding and Medical Care.  How can people drive by each day and not stop to help her?

The Rescue that called me about her was, right?   They knew I could not turn my back on a dog that needed medical care NOW, or she would die.  I had her picked up immediately and taken to the ER Clinic in Augusta, GA.    This poor girl had lost so much blood that it is a Miracle she was still alive.   She was given two transfusions during the night to give her the best possible chance of surviving the night.  We have to get Bengal stable before we can even consider what to do about her leg.  Bengal could be a candidate for a Prosthetic Leg.  That would only be possible if we can stop the infection from destroying the rest of the leg.  Her lower leg is covered with necrotic tissue that has to be removed.   Right now, our biggest priority is getting her stable and getting rid of the infection.

Bengal is going to be in ICU for quite a while getting stronger.   She is very sweet but also confused and very scared.  We have a Team of Doctors working on getting her pain under control so she can finally relax and allow her body to heal.   The next five days are going to be Critical for her survival.

This sweet pup has endured horrible pain and suffering.  How she is alive is a testament to her Will to Live.    Please, DONATE whatever you can so we can give her the best medical care possible.   She fought to be here, and we are going to do whatever is can to SAVE her.
