Latest Updates

I am happy to report that sweet Brixx is finally getting comfortable with all of the bandage changes.  He has been a Bear with this but that was to be expected given how deep his wounds were.   The only real issue we are having is he hates male dogs.  We just neutered him during one of his wound Care sessions since had to be sedated for the procedure.   Our hope is that should settle him down until he leaves the hospital.

We are still waiting for the final cultures to come back on his massive wounds.  We feel good about the antibiotics he is on because his wounds are granulating in beautifully.  If we did not have him on the appropriate antibiotic, his wounds would still be draining which they are not.   The Surgeons are still thinking they will have to make flaps to close some of the larger areas but only time will determine that.

Animals that we take in can't talk, but their body language and reactions to things tell us volumes about the Life they have had.  Brixx loves people but is very cautious when someone new comes in his area.   Other dogs set him off because he feels trapped.  He tries to defend his area because he doesn't understand exactly what is going on.  It isn't that he does not trust us but that he is used to taking care of himself.

We still do not feel like we have received the entire Story of what happened to Brixx.   I find it hard to imagine a dog with the type of wounds he has to actually have been hit by a car and not dragged.  The skin on his body looks like it was sheared off which usually coming from dragging an animal behind an automobile.   We have left messages for the District Attorney's Office letting them know we will give them all of Brixx's Medical Records so they can get to the bottom of what actually happened.

Brixx has several more weeks of wound management before he can be released.   At that time, we have a Trainer already set up to work with him on Training so he can eventually be placed in a wonderful loving home.

Thanks for caring and making his Journey to Heal and find Love, possible.   Have a very blessed Holiday Season.
