JOSIE (Schnauzer)

Latest Updates

It is with incredible sadness that we have to let you know that dear Josie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge around 7:30 this morning. She had been in ICU at CVRC all weekend.  Dr. Kristin Welch identified a tumor in her colon on Friday.  We sent tests off so our CVRC Oncologist, Dr. Kerry Rissetto could give us her opinion on what would be the best option for dear Josie.   Our little girl quit eating three days ago, and this morning I was going to have to put a Feeding Tube in.  I decided late into the night that I was not going to do that to Josie.

My plan was to pick her up from the Hospital this morning and bring her back with me so she could live out her remaining days in our arms.  She became Septic around 6:00 AM and nothing we could do would change that.  I spoke to her Specialists and decided the best decision for Josie would be to say Good-Bye.  I did not have enough time to get to her and was not going to have her suffer.  I made arrangements for the Staff at CVRC to get her comfortable, and then give her a little picnic of goodies.  Beautiful Josie passed away in the arms of her Critical Care Team.  She was finally comfortable and at peace.

The hardest decision is always the ones that no one wants to make.   My ultimate goal for every dog we take in is to have the best Quality of Life.  Medical Care does not guarantee that which is why it is up to us to be their Voice.  Josie's condition changed over the last five days, and her illness finally declared itself.  Once I knew what was wrong, I knew it was only a matter of time.  My only regret is that I didn't find her sooner so we could love her longer.

This is not the outcome that we wanted for Josie.  The saddest part is this sweet girl suffered long before she was ever discovered.  No animal deserves this kind of abuse and neglect.   We did everything we could to get her well and comfortable.  In the end, the only think that mattered was the unconditional Love she received from the minute she was rescued until she passed.   Life is short for a lot of these wonderful dogs.  We do our best to make every second count.

Tonight when you look up into the beautiful night sky, you will see a bunch of tiny little stars in the shape of a dog.  That will be dear Josie in all her Splendor.  She will be twinkling all over her body as she races across the sky.  She will forever be part of the Noah's Arks Rescue Family.

Thanks for caring and making her Journey to find unconditional Love, possible.  We greatly appreciate your Love and Support for each of our pups.
