LILLIAN

DeKALB COUNTY......Lillian is one of the saddest cases.  She is a Yorkie Mix that is between 10 and 14 years old that has massive Inguinal Hernias.   Originally we thought she had large mammary gland tumors and were prepared for her to have cancer.   That turns out to not be the case for sweet Lillian.  She was brought into the Dekalb County Shelter by a person that said she was a stray she had found.   The Staff there thinks this was her dog since Lillian appeared to be very attached to her.     Whoever abandoned this sweet pup in the condition she was in, should be charged with Animal Cruelty.   Given Lillian does not have any old broken bones or other signs of being hit by a car, we think the hernias came from her being KICKED repeatedly.   We can't prove this but if she had been hit by a car or something similar, she would be dead now, since she is a tiny 9 lb. dog.

Lillian was taken to CVRC in Charleston to see what could be done about her hernias.  In the process, she showed signs of heart and lung issues that had to be addressed before we would even consider surgery.   Lillian also had a cough that would not stop.   Our sweet girl is a mixed bag of medical issues caused from years of neglect.  Over the weekend, it was discovered Lillian's Heart Murmur was caused by her anemia.   Her cough has been treated, and she has been cleared for surgery.  During the final exanimation, the specialist found a lump that will be removed and send off for a biopsy report.   Lillian is very bottom heavy because most of her internal organs that should be inside her stomach cavity are now outside in two sacs hanging between her legs.  Walking has become very difficult because fo this.  Lillian's quality of Life is not good with the hernia's which is why we are doing everything we can to put her organs back where they belong.  The Surgeons feel good about the surgery, or we would not be going forward with the procedure.

This sweet, adorable pup is a delight to be around.  She loves being held, and her greatest joy is riding in a car and watching cars pass by.  Lillian is going to make someone very happy.  She is an older pup that gave most of her Life to someone that discarded her like trash.   The thought of this pup being abandoned with no way of taking care of herself makes me sick to my stomach.   There is no excuse for this type of neglect.

Lillian's surgery is quite extensive and expensive.   That in addition to all of the Specialists she had to see before she could be approved for surgery has put her bills very high.    Please, DONATE toward her Medical Bills so we can help more neglected animals like Lillian.   Animals love unconditionally their entire Life.   Let's show Lillian all the Love and Care she never received from her previous Family.
