CALHOUN COUNTY, SC.....There is nothing sadder to me than seeing an older dog abandoned and alone.  They love and adore you unconditionally, only to be discarded in their older years.   That appears to be the case with wonderful Grace.   She was picked up by Animal Control after being spotted eating on a dead deer.   She was so bloated that you couldn't tell she was starved.   The Shelter was looking for a Rescue to help her when a Vet walked by and decided that she had late stage heartworm disease and should be put down.  All I could see was the happiest dog known to man that needed a break.  I immediately said I would take her.

Grace is between nine and ten years old.   She was having a hard time breathing, and her belly was dangerously bloated.   The Specialists immediately did tests and determined that she had fluid in her abdominal area.   Tests were run, and fluid was drained.   Our sweet girl was heartworm negative.  A Cardiologist was called, and she was transferred to our Specialists in Charleston, SC.    Sweet Grace does not have late stage Heartworm Disease but has late stage Heart Disease.   Also, she has polyps on her bladder that need to be biopsied and an infection.   Her skin is a mess, and her blood panel is all over the place, but her Spirits are amazing.  I have never seen a happier dog.  She has a smile on her face 24-hours a day.  No matter how tired she gets from the Heart Disease, she loves to run up to you and give you kisses.  She loves every dog she sees and wants to play.   Nothing fades her cheery disposition.  How could anyone in their right mind allow this incredible dog to be discarded.   Grace is PERFECT IN EVERY WAY.

Our sweet girl has a group of Specialists all her own that are staying on top of her medical needs.  She has to remain in the hospital until she has stabilized.   We have done surgery to biopsy her bladder, and it has come back negative.  We are regulating her heart meds to get her comfortable.   Every surgery she has is closely monitored by her Cardiologist.   For such a small dog, she sure can run up some big medical bills.   We have finally gotten the fluid out of her abdomen, and her heart has improved dramatically.   We are doing everything possible to give our dear girl the best possible chance of having several more years to be loved unconditionally.   She deserves to be spoiled rotten for the rest of her Life.   If you think you might be just the one to do the spoiling, please, fill out her Adoption Application.  You will thank us every day for bringing her into your Life.

Every penny counts when it comes to saving animals.  Please, help us with Grace's extensive medical bills.  She now has four Specialists overseeing her care and will have extensive medications she has to take.  One of the pills that is very expensive is Viagra.   Apparently, that helps dogs with certain Heart problems.  We will continue to help her new Family with her medical bills once she is adopted.  Please, DONATE so we can help more dogs like Grace.
