GUINNESS

BEAUFORT, SC.....We were contacted over the weekend about a beautiful sweet one and a half-year-old Rottie that broke free from his chain and was hit by a car near Walmart.  He was taken to the vet but needed major surgery for a broken leg or had to be put to sleep. We offered to help and had him taken to our Specialists in Charleston, SC. We have since discovered the dog was with the Parents of a deceased young man that owned Guinness. The Family decided to sign him over to NAR so he could get the best possible surgical care and have a new start in Life with a great Family.

Guinness has a terrible break that will require an Orthopedic Surgeon to plate the leg.   He spent the weekend in the ER getting stable for surgery today.   As of this morning, he is on the books to have surgery this afternoon.  The Surgeons do not see any major complications from the procedure other than the normal risk of infection from putting a metal plate in which is considered a foreign body.   Guinness will have to have extensive Rehab once his surgical site has healed.  Because of his size, amputation was not an option we considered.   Amputation would have caused him terrible pain and suffering down the road in his hip area.   Surgical Repair is the most expensive and the best option given his size.

This beautiful dog could not be any sweeter.   Even with a broken leg, he has shown no signs of aggression.  He freely gives lots of love and kisses to anyone that comes into his kennel area.   It sounds like his Life up until now has not been the best for a young pup.   This is his chance to be free of the chains that held him hostage.   He will be placed in a loving home surrounded by unconditional love and will no longer be an outside dog.   Based on how he is adapting to the warmth of the hospital and the cushy beds he gets to sleep on, he seems to be loving Life.

Please, Donate toward his extensive surgery to give him the best chance at walking normally again.  He is a young pup that has a long Life ahead.  Let's make sure that happens by giving him the Gift of Life.
