BETTY

Sweet Betty loves a good bed, to sleep late, to cuddle with her Pink PIG and to lay in the Sun.  Those are her favorite things to do every day.  After lots of consultations with Betty's  Specialists I decided our dear girl needed a change of pace and a home environment.  She has a temporary reprieve from the hospital.  We felt she was stable enough for us to nurture her in a home environment.  She will have to eventually go back to address her mammary gland cancer but for now she is being loved and smothered with lots of kisses and as much food as we can coax her to eat.  The mass we removed on her back is healing beautifully and is no longer a problem.  That is the best news of all for her since she has had that for a very long time without any medical care.  The mass was draining so much that it was altering her bloodwork in a very bad way.  We have now stopped that progression and her body is able to stabilize without intervention.  She is still on her meds but not like she was in the beginning.  Since we now know she is a Senior Girl in the latter years of her Life, we wanted to be sensitive to that.  The hospital environment was where she had to be to survive but for now we feel her being able to relax is equally as important.  She is close by the hospital and checks in often for her tests and bloodwork.  Right now, our main focus is to put weight on her.  She is still emaciated and has gained over 5 pounds.  Betty loves being outside and laying in the sun.  It energizes her to where she wants to play a little.  Her Oncologists isn't happy about her laying in the sun since she is a white dog but understands how beneficial it is for her right now.  The sun is probably how she got the cancer in the first place.  We love and adore this incredibly sweet girl and are going to do everything possible to turn her Life around.  She still has a long, long way to go to heal the suffering she has endured over the last year.  One thing is for sure, she will never have to suffer like that again or ever be alone in her struggles to survive.  We will be with her every step of the way and are honored to be by her side.
