We are thrilled to share that dear Timber is out of the ER at CVRC in Charleston and back with us at our Rehab Facility and is now 74 lbs. Each visit costs thousands of dollars and lasts longer than we wish, but the good news is that the same Specialists who have cared for Timber from the very beginning continue to oversee every detail of his treatment.
When a new bacteria appears, they carefully walk us through a process to find out where it may have come from and how to prevent it from happening again. Recently, the surgeons also addressed the ulcer on his hip and developed a plan to treat the infection in that wound without compromising the rest of his body.
Timber had been on multiple antibiotics for different staph infections, which were weakening his immune system and even causing him to lose patches of fur. His wound care became the “perfect storm” in his body. Thankfully, his medical team recognized the breaking point and created a plan that allowed him to stop most of the internal antibiotics.
Now that Timber is home again, he is as spoiled and full of love as ever. He insists on being right by our side—so much so that I’ve tripped over him more than once without realizing he was there! Just the other day, he nudged me right off balance only to cover me in kisses. When our morning crew is working, Timber insists on joining them, following along like he’s the official Noah’s Arks Rescue inspector.
As always, I can’t help but wonder how anyone could have abused such a sweet and gentle soul. He is truly the perfect shepherd—loving, playful, and wonderful with other dogs.
I am once again asking for help to cover Timber’s most recent ER visit. Please consider donating whatever you can for this extraordinary boy who continues to show us how deeply he wants to be here.
