When it comes to Timber, I am very cautious about what I post. His medical status can change in seconds, and I have gone from celebrating good news to rushing him to the ER 30 minutes later. Because of that, I have become a little gun shy about posting joyful updates about this amazing boy.
But today… I feel good sharing this.
Timber is doing AMAZING. After weeks of ER visits trying to figure out his regurgitation issues, we are finally feeling confident that he is on the right medications. He is not just stable — he is thriving. His fur has fully grown back, he is at his best weight, and he runs, plays, and exercises nonstop. He acts like a two-year-old, even though vets now believe he is closer to five — a huge difference from the 10+ years we originally thought.
Since that fateful day in mid-July, it feels like we have lived years with Timber. Looking back, I cannot imagine a world where we chose to let him go. Timber has taught us strength, determination, and has helped veterinary teams learn things that may help save other animals in the future.
True miracles don’t happen when things are easy. They happen when the odds are stacked against you and you keep going anyway — with faith, hope, and refusal to give up. That has been Timber’s journey for the last six months.
At Noah’s Arks Rescue, we don’t see broken animals. We see family members who need love, support, and someone willing to fight for them. Timber has been both joy and heartbreak, sometimes in the same day. But this boy wants to LIVE — and he lives life FULLY.
Now for the news we can truly celebrate…
We recently ran an IDEXX SNAP Heartworm Test, even though many felt it was too soon. I needed to know.
Timber tested NEGATIVE for heartworms.
He will stay on his monthly preventative — and that’s it.
He still has liver hurdles ahead, and we have ultrasounds and bloodwork scheduled this week. But today, we celebrate this victory.
Shout it to the heavens.
One major medical obstacle is GONE.
Timber’s journey has only been possible because of the incredible support from our village. The ER visits, specialists, diagnostics, medications, and ongoing monitoring add up quickly, but every single step has given him the chance to keep fighting and keep living the life he clearly wants so badly.
If you would like to help us continue providing this level of care for Timber and the many other animals who come through our doors needing second chances, we are always grateful for your support — whether that is donations, sharing our posts, or simply cheering Timber on.
From the bottom of our hearts… thank you for standing with Timber and with Noah’s Arks Rescue. 💙
