ARCHER (White Pitbull)

Sweet Archer is on the mend but has a long way to go.  He has been in the ER Hospital in Matthews, NC recovering from his surgery.  As infected as his body was, removing the infected leg still took a major toll on him.   He was glad to have the leg off, but his body had to recover from all of the blood loss and parasites that he was loaded with.

A lot of people don't realize how much energy has to go into healing when your body to compromised.  Archer's body had been in decline since the day he was first shot which was probably close to eight weeks ago.   He lost a lot of blood and was also losing his ability to walk from the damage that was done by the bullet.

When Archer was hit by a car, he had further damage that destroyed part of his leg and pelvis.  The impact alone would have caused him to lose more blood and ruined any chance he would ever have of walking again.  As if that was not enough for one very young pup to endure, his Owners decided not to help him.  Instead, they thought starvation would be the best thing.

Everything about this case is sad and very disheartening.  The person that gave the dog up is now saying the dog was not theirs and he was a stray, and the authorities cannot prove otherwise.  No one in that neighborhood seems to care about all of the injustices that happened to this young pup.  My heart breaks for all the dog's everywhere that are being mistreated in the most inhumane way.

Sweet Archer may have a long list of disabilities, but his amazing determination to Live and Love has enabled him to survive his darkest days.    Archer's disabilities do not hold him back.  He will soon be leaving the hospital and coming to our Rehab Facility in Okatie, SC.  That is where his new Life will begin.

His new cart should arrive in a couple of weeks.  In the meantime, we will be using a harness to keep him moving.  He will get Underwater Treadmill Therapy with someone holding his rear leg up, so he remains strong on his front legs.  His incontinent issues will be addressed daily to keep him dry and infection free.  Every day, he will get more comfortable with the process and become more at ease.

All along the way, Archer will be loved from sun-up to sun-down.  We will be looking for a very special home for him, but in the meantime, his Home will be with us.  His Journey to Heal and find Love has begun because of your kindness.  Thanks for caring.
